BLUEBERRIES: A SHIFT IN PLANS
In 2012, blueberry bushes were planted in the long parking lot islands between the front parking lot and the school building. We had hoped that the bushes would grow rapidly and discourage shortcutting through the blueberry plantings to get to the building. Unfortunately, due to a combination of winter road salt splash and compaction from pedestrian traffic, the blueberry bushes suffered. In the Fall of 2015 we gradually transplanted them next to the community garden-located near the soccer fields. Tougher perennial pollinator flowers have taken their place in front of the school.
